| 备注 |
The Bible Christian Society of Jersey was not a bank in any conventional sense — it was a Methodist denomination that issued notes as a fundraising and community finance mechanism, a practice tolerated in Jersey under the island's distinct legal and monetary framework that kept it outside the Bank of England's regulatory reach well into the late nineteenth century. That autonomy allowed non-banking institutions on the island to issue paper instruments that would have been flatly illegal on the English mainland.
P#S126 is poorly documented in the major references, and authenticated surviving examples are extremely rare. Treat any attribution of printer or precise circulation figures with skepticism.
