Bank of Scotland £5 notes of this series carried three distinct signature combinations across its run — a byproduct of genuine executive turnover, including António Horta-Osório's brief tenure before he departed for Lloyds Banking Group in 2011. The changeover to Horta-Osório and Grant on the final issue reflects the HBOS acquisition period's turbulent aftermath, when the Bank of Scotland's operational leadership was in visible flux.
Collectors typically distinguish the three signature variants as separate collectibles. The Daniels/Kane pairing is the least frequently encountered in uncirculated condition.
