Obverse description Two classical allegorical figures of Hibernia, each standing on a plinth, flank the design at left and right, rendered in fine intaglio engraving. A decorative frieze of mask vignettes runs across the top border, with ornate guilloche panels bearing the word FIVE at lower left and right. The denomination Five Pounds and the place of issue Dublin appear in the central field, accompanied by the date and serial number in green letterpress, with the Chief Cashier's manuscript signature below.
