Comments

Guernsey's long-running P#56 series is notable less for its design than for the quiet administrative changes embedded across its production run — three distinct signature and security thread combinations spanning nearly three decades under two treasurers. The shift from solid to segmented security thread under D. M. Clark's tenure marks the most technically significant variant break, as segmented threads with windowed apertures became De La Rue's preferred anti-counterfeiting standard from the mid-1990s onward.

Trestain-signed examples from the earlier print run are the scarcest of the three variants by a measurable margin.
