The two distinct serial number placements on this series — one above the watermark area, one directly within it — reflect mid-run adjustments at the CBE's own printing works in Cairo, where incremental changes to sheet layout occasionally shifted placement without triggering a new Pick number. The result is a single catalog entry covering four signature combinations and two measurably different serial positions, which matters considerably to specialists building complete runs.
A print run just over twelve million for a six-year span is modest for Egyptian five-pound notes of this period, suggesting this was not the workhorse denomination it later became.
