| 备注 |
The Gambia Currency Board was established as part of the transition infrastructure ahead of independence in February 1965, replacing the British West African Currency Board notes that had circulated across the region for decades. This series — including the 5 Pounds — was among the first issues denominated specifically for The Gambia as a sovereign state, though the pound denomination itself would last only until 1971, when decimalisation brought in the dalasi at a rate of 5 dalasi to the pound.
Bradbury Wilkinson handled a large portion of Commonwealth transition coinage and currency work during this period, and the production quality is characteristically tight. The notes were printed at New Malden before the firm's later relocation activities.
