Barclays Bank DCO — the Dominion, Colonial and Overseas arm — was formed in 1925 through the amalgamation of several colonial banking operations, and these notes circulated across a surprisingly wide geographic patchwork, from East Africa to the Caribbean, depending on the branch of issue. The issuing location printed on individual notes matters considerably here; the same Pick 3 type was used across multiple territories, and provenance can shift collector value substantially.
Waterlow & Sons produced the series to a consistently high standard, but the 23-year print span means paper quality and ink tone vary noticeably across dates.
