A scroll below the bird bears the Arabic inscription of the Republic of Sudan. Flanking the central emblem are large Arabic numerals and inscription denoting the denomination (5 Pounds / 5 جنيهات) to the left and right. The lower arc of the field carries the Latin legend ISLAMIC WORLD 15TH CENTURY, with the Gregorian date 1979 and the Hijri date 1400 flanking the word SUDAN. A fine milled border runs around the entire circumference. |
