Aanvullende informatie

Issued to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the October 1973 War — known in Egypt as the Victory War and elsewhere as the Yom Kippur War — this coin commemorates the Egyptian crossing of the Suez Canal on October 6th, a military operation that breached the Israeli Bar-Lev Line and is still considered one of the most tactically sophisticated canal crossings in modern military history. The political outcome led directly to the 1978 Camp David Accords and the eventual return of Sinai.

The .720 silver fineness follows a longstanding Egyptian commemorative standard dating back decades, favored for its durability in struck pieces intended more for presentation than circulation.
