Issued to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the October 1973 War — known in Egypt as the Victory War and elsewhere as the Yom Kippur War — this coin commemorates the Egyptian crossing of the Suez Canal on October 6th, a military operation that breached the Israeli Bar-Lev Line and is still considered one of the most tactically sophisticated canal crossings in modern military history.
