Opmerkingen

This note belongs to the Ang Bagong Lipunan ("New Society") series, which began circulating after Marcos declared martial law in September 1972 — the series name was part of a deliberate rebranding of the Philippine state under his authoritarian program. Thomas De La Rue had been printing Philippine banknotes for years by this point, and the relationship continued well into the martial law period.

The "without border" designation distinguishes this from an earlier variant in the same series, a detail that matters for attribution and is easily missed without direct comparison. Mintage of just over twelve million is modest for a denomination in active circulation.
