Reverse description A large intaglio vignette across the centre of the note illustrates the proclamation of Philippine independence on 12 June 1898, with Emilio Aguinaldo and officials gathered on a balcony above a jubilant crowd of soldiers and civilians raising rifles, hats, and flags. The denomination numeral "5" appears at upper left, upper right, and lower right corners against a multicolour guilloche border, with the legend arched along the upper margin.
