| Obverse description | Intaglio bust of Queen Nefertiti in right profile at right, set within fine guilloche underprint in blue and purple tones. Arabic inscriptions across the upper field identify the issuing authority and denomination, with the value in Arabic numerals and text at centre. A large oval watermark window occupies the left portion of the note, flanked by ornate lathe-work borders; the Minister of Finance signature appears within the oval, with serial numbers in Arabic numerals running along the lower margin. |

| Reverse description | Central guilloche vignette in purple and teal contains a large numeral '5' underprint over which the facsimile signature of the Minister of Finance is printed, accompanied by the English legend 'ISSUED UNDER LAW No. 50/1940' above and 'MINISTER OF FINANCE' below. The Arabic inscription for the Arab Republic of Egypt appears at the top of the central cartouche, with 'THE ARAB REPUBLIC OF EGYPT CURRENCY NOTE' in English along the lower arc. An elaborately engraved rosette medallion at left carries the denomination '5 PIASTRES'; corner numerals '5' appear at all four angles within the guilloche border. |
