| Obverse description | Intaglio-printed bust of Queen Nefertiti in right-facing profile, set within an oval vignette at right, executed in fine line engraving against a guilloche underprint in blue and grey tones. The upper portion carries the Arabic issuer inscription within a decorative cartouche, flanked by the numeral 5 in each upper corner. An oval watermark window occupies the left field, below which appears the Minister of Finance title in Arabic, with the serial number in Eastern Arabic numerals along the lower margin. |

The centre field carries the Arabic and English issuer legends, the authority inscription ISSUED UNDER LAW No. 50/1940, and the manuscript signature of the Minister of Finance above the printed title MINISTER OF FINANCE. The lower border bears the curved legend THE ARAB REPUBLIC OF EGYPT / CURRENCY NOTE, with corner numerals 5 repeated on all four sides against a fine blue guilloche background. |
