The United Arab Republic's political instability is written directly into this note's signature sequence. El Boghdady — who signed the earliest series — was one of the original Free Officers and had been a close associate of Nasser before resigning in 1959 over policy disputes; his signature appears on issues made after his return to government, during a brief reconciliation. El Kaissouny's tenure saw the incorrect title variant catalogued separately as P-180A, a misprint significant enough to warrant its own Pick number.
The watermark height change mid-run under Deif — from 3 mm to 5 mm "UAR" text — is a quiet but reliable dating tool that the series numbering alone doesn't resolve cleanly.
