Obverse description Purple intaglio on green and orange underprint, framed within an ornate guilloche border. The heading 'EGYPTIAN GOVERNMENT CURRENCY NOTE' runs across the top, with a central band of Arabic inscriptions; the denomination 'FIVE PIASTRES' in bold letterpress appears below, flanked by large numeral '5' counters at left and right. The lower portion carries the date, series designation, and the Minister of Finance signature line.

Reverse description Printed entirely in green, the reverse is centred on an oval vignette of a Greco-Roman temple complex on the Nile shore, its ruined columns and a fortified riverbank structure rendered in fine line engraving. The vignette is enclosed within an elaborate acanthus-leaf and guilloche border, with large numeral '5' counters at left and right. The imprint 'PRINTED BY SURVEY OF EGYPT' appears in small letters at the base.
