Obverse description Central field displays the crowned arms of Danzig — a heraldic shield bearing a black cross beneath a royal crown — rendered within a stylised polygonal border composed of alternating battlemented segments recalling the city's fortifications. The date 19-23 flanks the base of the shield, divided by the lower arm of the cross. The design is stark and uncluttered, with no peripheral legend, the armorial device occupying the full field in bold relief.
