Obverse description Central field features the crowned oval coat of arms of the Kingdom of Saxony, depicting the Saxon barry field with a diagonal crancelin, set within an ornate cartouche with foliate and scrollwork surround. The royal crown surmounts the shield directly above. The peripheral legend KOENIGREICH SACHSEN arcs along the upper portion of the coin, separated from the central device by a fine beaded inner circle. Two small rosette ornaments flank the lower cartouche, and a decorative foliate flourish occupies the base of the field.
