Obverse description The municipal coat of arms of Treuchtlingen occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield with heraldic charges including a swan, fish, and other civic emblems, surmounted by a mural crown with battlements. The shield is flanked by decorative foliate supporters on either side. The circular legend STADT TREUCHTLINGEN appears on a curved banner running along the lower half of the design, encircling the arms. A plain inner border frames the composition.

Reverse description The large numeral 5 dominates the central field as the denomination indicator. The circular legend KRIEGSGELD 1918 arcs across the upper portion, with the date 1918 positioned to the right, while the denomination inscription PFENNIG curves along the lower register. The entire design is enclosed within a continuous pearl or bead border running near the rim, giving the reverse a clean, utilitarian appearance characteristic of World War I German notgeld coinage.
