| Opmerkingen |
Wunstorf is a small town in Lower Saxony, and its municipal savings bank — the Sparkasse der Stadt Wunstorf — issued this 5 Pfennig note during the Kleingeldscheine period of 1920, when Germany's small-denomination coinage had effectively vanished from circulation. Hoarding, metal shortages, and postwar economic disruption pushed thousands of municipalities and local institutions into issuing their own fractional emergency paper. Müller & Mahnkopp of Hildesheim handled the printing, a regional firm that took on considerable notgeld work from surrounding towns during this period.
The DeNG reference suffix "1/4" indicates this is one of four known varieties within this specific issue type.
