Beschrijving voorzijde Within a raised pearl border, the crowned municipal coat of arms of Regensburg is depicted centrally in the field, showing two crossed keys on a shield surmounted by a mural crown. The circular legend reads REGENSBURG above and BAYERN below, separated on each side by a six-pointed star. The octagonal flan gives the piece its characteristic emergency-issue appearance.

Aanvullende informatie

Regensburg issued its own emergency coinage in 1917 as the imperial government's wartime metal requisitions stripped zinc, copper, and nickel from civilian circulation. These Kriegsgeld pieces were authorized locally rather than centrally, which is why municipal types vary so sharply in design and execution across German cities from the same period. Regensburg's issues are among the better-documented Bavarian municipal types, catalogued consistently under Funck.
