Obverse description Crowned and helmeted county arms (a skull and crossbones motif associated with the Bentheim-Tecklenburg dynasty) displayed centrally within a decorative wreath of branches and foliage. The helmet surmounts the shield and is itself crowned, with the composition rendered in a bold, somewhat crude hammered style typical of minor German territorial coinage of the late seventeenth century.
