| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in dark brown on grey paper and enclosed within a decorative letterpress border of intertwined foliate and floral motifs. A diamond-shaped vignette at the top centre bears the numeral '5' above the denomination 'Pfennig', while the lower corners each carry a circular '5' cartouche. The issuer inscription 'Gutschein / Kreissparkasse / Lüchow' is rendered in bold Fraktur script across the centre field, with the validity legend 'Gültig bis 1. Kreissparkasse Lüchow was the district savings bank serving Lüchow in Lower Saxony — a rural backwater even by Weimar-era standards. Small-denomination notgeld of this type was issued by hundreds of municipal and district institutions after 1914 to plug the gap left by hoarded imperial coinage, and Lüchow's issues are among the more obscure examples, with survival rates difficult to establish given how little collector attention the county ever attracted.
At 50 × 35 mm, this is among the smallest format notgeld produced anywhere in Germany.
