| Obverse description | Printed in green on a light cream paper with an Art Nouveau-style scrollwork underprint, the note carries the issuer's name in a decorative header panel at top, below which the denomination '5 Pfennig' is set in large bold letterpress type. A central oval vignette presents a view of a historic Gardelegen town gate or castle, rendered in fine line engraving, flanked by the numeral '5' in the four corners within diamond cartouches. Below the vignette, a three-line validity clause is printed in Gothic script, followed by the issuer's name and the date 'Gardelegen, den 1. Mai 1920' with manuscript signatures, and the printer's imprint 'Julius Könecke, Gardelegen' at the lower right. |
