| 背面描述 | A continuous inner pearl circle frames the flat field, within which the large numeral 5 is centrally struck in bold relief, denoting the denomination of five Pfennig. The design is deliberately austere, with no additional inscription or ornament beyond the pearl border, characteristic of wartime Notgeld emergency coinage. |

Karlstadt am Main issued this zinc notgeld piece in 1917, when the Imperial German war economy had stripped copper and nickel from civilian coinage with increasing urgency. Zinc was the fallback for dozens of municipalities forced to provision their own small change after the Reichsbank's centralized supply collapsed under wartime demand. Karlstadt's issue is catalogued under Funck 233.1, placing it firmly among the smaller Franconian town emissions rather than the better-documented urban series.
