| Aanvullende informatie |
Gewerkschaft Heldrungen II was a potash mining operation in the Mansfeld district of Saxony-Anhalt, a region that dominated German potash extraction in the early twentieth century. During World War I, acute zinc and copper shortages — driven by military requisitioning — pushed hundreds of German industrial firms to issue their own small-denomination token coinage to keep wage payments and canteen transactions functioning. This piece is one such Kriegsgeldersatz, circulating exclusively within the mine's closed economic environment.
The Mens catalog distinguishes at least three die varieties for this type, of which this is the third.
