| Additional information |
A. Riebecksche Montanwerke was one of the dominant brown coal operations in the Saale region, and like many large German industrial concerns in the early twentieth century, it issued scrip coinage for use within its own company infrastructure — mines, canteens, and company housing. Iron was the practical choice during and after the First World War, when copper and nickel were requisitioned for military production, pushing notgeld issuers toward whatever base metal remained available.
