| 表面の説明 | The octagonal field is enclosed by a continuous pearl border following the eight-sided perimeter. A crowned open-winged eagle is depicted in the center of the coin, rendered in low relief. Surrounding the central device, a circular pearl ring separates the eagle from the outer legend. The inscription 'STADT GERMERSHEIM' arcs around the upper portion of the coin, flanked by floral ornaments, with the date '1917' completing the legend at the base. |

Germersheim issued this zinc notgeld piece in 1917 under the severe metal shortages that forced hundreds of German municipalities to produce their own emergency coinage after copper and nickel were requisitioned for the war effort. The Bavarian Rhine city — strategically positioned at the confluence of the Queich and Rhine rivers and long fortified as a federal fortress — had no special monetary authority, but wartime necessity overrode normal Reichsbank prerogatives at the local level.
Funck 157.1 places this among the earlier documented municipal zinc issues of the period.
