| 正面描述 | Central field displays the municipal coat of arms of Camberg, depicting a heraldic shield surmounted by a turreted gate or tower motif, rendered in low relief. The legend STADT CAMBERG arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 1917 positioned below the shield near the base. Two small six-pointed stars flank the lower portion of the design. A fine beaded border runs along the inner edge of the octagonal flan, framing the entire composition. |

Camberg's 1917 zinc notgeld issue belongs to the first wave of municipal emergency coinage that flooded Germany after the imperial government requisitioned copper and nickel for war production. Small Hessian towns like Camberg were essentially left to solve their own small-change shortage, with municipal councils granted informal latitude to strike whatever the local economy demanded. Zinc was the fallback material precisely because it had limited strategic value — nobody was melting 5-Pfennig pieces for artillery shells.
