| 正面描述 | A beaded border frames the design, with the municipal coat of arms of Beckum displayed centrally within a plain shield, featuring a diagonal banded pattern. The circular legend surrounds the shield, with the date 1917 appearing in the lower field, flanked by floral ornaments. The overall design is characteristic of German municipal notgeld coinage of the First World War era, struck in a simple, functional style. |

Beckum's 1917 zinc Pfennig issues belong to the first great wave of German municipal notgeld, triggered by wartime hoarding of copper and the Reich's inability to supply adequate small change to local economies. Zinc was the compromise material — cheap, available, and deeply unpopular in circulation due to its tendency to corrode and pit in pocket moisture. Most of Beckum's pieces survived precisely because people disliked handling them.
