Obverse description The obverse presents a central vignette of the Salzwedel town coat of arms, an eagle displayed in red on a white field within a heraldic shield, flanked on either side by the numeral '5' in large serif type. The upper margin carries the text 'Gutschein über 5 Pfennig' in Gothic letterpress, while the lower portion bears the issuing authority's name 'Salzwedel', the date '15 Dec. 1921', a facsimile signature of the Magistrat, and a serial number. The overall layout is restrained, printed in black on cream-toned paper.
