| Obverse description | The upper portion carries the denomination heading in large decorative Gothic script reading "Gutschein", flanked by ornamental foliate sprigs in each upper corner. A bold numeral "5" set within a circular frame occupies the centre field, with the validity clause and issuer text distributed to either side in smaller Gothic type. The issuing authority's manuscript signature appears at lower right, above the imprint "Ballenstedt im Ost-Harz" rendered in large Gothic letterpress characters across the lower margin, dated 28 September 1920. |
