| Obverse description | The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield divided into three sections: the upper portion shows a golden sun rising over a sea between two rocky promontories, the middle section bears a crossed key and sceptre symbolising Cuba's strategic position, and the lower section displays a diagonal blue-and-white striped field with a royal palm tree. The shield is surmounted by a Phrygian cap on a pike, flanked on the left by a branch of oak and on the right by a branch of laurel, tied at the base. The circular legend 'REPUBLICA DE CUBA' arcs along the upper rim, while the denomination '5 PESOS' appears at the base; the weight indicator '12 G.' is inscribed to the left and the fineness designation 'AG 0.999' to the right of the shield. |
