Reverse description The reverse presents a faithful representation of the Olmec stone sculpture known as the Señor de las Limas, depicted seated cross-legged and cradling a were-jaguar infant figure in its arms, rendered in bold relief within a recessed square cartouche. The border of the cartouche and the outer rim are ornamented with a continuous band of stylised pre-Columbian glyphic elements. The date 1996 appears to the left of the figure and the mint mark Mo to the right. The legend SEÑOR DE LAS LIMAS is inscribed below the central figure, and the denomination $5 appears at the bottom of the coin outside the cartouche.
