Obverse lettering ESTADO L. Y S. DE OAXACA 1915
Reverse description Large bold numeral 5 occupies the center of the field, with the denomination legend PESOS inscribed immediately below. Flanking the central numeral, the alloy fineness is declared in two arcing inscriptions: AG 0.902 to the left and AU 0.010 to the right, specifying the silver and gold content respectively. The upper periphery bears the legend MONEDA PROVISIONAL arcing from left to right. The entire central device is enclosed within a wreath of laurel or oak branches tied at the base, all surrounded by a beaded or leaf border near the rim.
