| Opmerkingen |
Banco de San Juan operated branches across the Argentine interior during the 1870s, issuing provincial notes denominated in Bolivian silver pesos — the dominant hard currency circulating in the Andean northwest long after independence. The Catamarca branch had limited issuing activity, and notes from this office are considerably scarcer than those from the parent San Juan operation.
Guillermo Kraft's Buenos Aires press handled much of the private bank printing for the Argentine interior during this period. The incomplete date field — "187_" — was filled in by hand at the time of issue, a routine practice that now complicates precise dating of surviving examples.
