Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield divided into three sections: the upper portion features a golden key between two coastal promontories and a rising sun, the lower-left section displays the Lone Star flag, and the lower-right section shows a royal palm tree. The shield is surmounted by a Phrygian cap above a fasces, and flanked on each side by a branch of oak and laurel. The arc legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA curves along the upper periphery, while the denomination 5 PESOS is inscribed at the base; the weight specification 12 G. and the fineness mark AG 0.999 appear in the left and right fields respectively.
