The 1997 emission of this note exists in two distinct varieties distinguished by surface finish — early sheets in the H-prefix range were issued without varnish, while later production within the same lettered series received a lacquered coating. Both share identical signatures, making the varnish difference the sole diagnostic. This kind of mid-run specification change from Oberthur is unusual enough that the two states are separately catalogued.
The 1996 signature pairing under Valdez Albizu and Martínez Villanueva gave way the following year to Toribio as co-signatory — a reflection of the political transition under Leonel Fernández, who took office in August 1996.
