Obverse description Oval intaglio portrait vignette of General José María Córdoba in military uniform at left, with the denomination numeral '5' repeated in each corner. Central panel carries the value inscription within an ornate guilloche framework, with the issuing bank's name in gothic script across the top. Date '20 de Julio de 1923' and place 'Bogota, Colombia' appear below the central vignette, with signature lines for El Gerente and El Secretario, and the imprint of the American Bank Note Company at the base.
Obverse lettering El Banco de la Republica Pagará al Portador Cinco Pesos Oro
(Translation: The Bank of the Republic Will pay to the Bearer Five Pesos Oro)
Reverse description Central intaglio vignette of a classical Liberty head in profile facing left, set within a circular guilloche surround bearing the bank and city inscriptions. Large bold numeral '5' appears on either side of the central motif, flanked by intricate lathe-work patterns. A signature line for El Cajero runs beneath the central vignette, with the denomination panel 'Cinco Pesos Oro' and the American Bank Note Company imprint at the base.
