5 Pesos Moscow '80 Olympics

Cuba issued a series of silver pieces for the 1980 Moscow Olympics largely as hard currency earners rather than anything intended for domestic circulation — the peso had no convertibility, and these were sold directly to foreign collectors and dealers through state channels. The Soviet games were already politically radioactive by the time they were struck; the U.S.-led boycott had reduced international participation to 80 nations, its lowest since 1956.

Cuba, conspicuously, did not boycott.
