Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield charged with a key and two promontories flanked by sea, surmounted by a Phrygian cap on a pole with a rising sun, and supported by an oak branch on the left and a laurel branch on the right. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs across the upper periphery. The coin's weight and fineness (12G. and AG 0.999) appear in the side fields, while the denomination 5 PESOS is inscribed along the lower periphery.
