Obverse description The obverse displays the Mexican national coat of arms in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. At the center, a Mexican golden eagle perches atop a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky outcrop, grasping a serpent in its beak and right talon in the traditional heraldic pose. The device is framed below by an ornamental garland of oak and laurel branches tied with a ribbon. The curved legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper periphery in bold Latin lettering.
