Reverse description The aluminium bronze centre bears a right-facing bust of José María Cos, the Mexican independence hero and priest, rendered in bold relief with fine portrait detail. To the left of the effigy appears the denomination $5, and to the right the mint mark Mo above the date 2009. The name JOSÉ MARÍA COS is inscribed along the lower portion of the centre. The stainless steel ring carries the commemorative legend BICENTENARIO DE LA INDEPENDENCIA arcing across the upper periphery, with MÉXICO 2010 displayed along the lower arc.
