Obverse description The aluminium bronze centre features the Mexican national arms in high relief: an eagle displayed facing left, perched upon a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky islet, grasping a serpent in its beak and talons. The composition is rendered in fine detail with boldly struck feathering on the wings. The stainless steel ring bears the legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arching along the upper periphery, flanked at the lower sides by decorative oak and laurel branch motifs.
