The Banco de la República del Paraguay had a short institutional life — it was dissolved and replaced by the Banco del Paraguay in 1944, meaning this entire series spans less than a decade of issuance. The 1936 date places this note in the immediate aftermath of the Chaco War, when Paraguay had technically won a devastating conflict against Bolivia but emerged financially exhausted, with debt obligations and reconstruction costs straining an already fragile monetary system.
ABNC engraved the plates in New York, as they did for most Paraguayan issues of the period. The watermark is the sole security concession — no serial number variations or overprints of note for this pick number.
