Opmerkingen

The Banco Comercial de Santa Fé was one of several provincial banks operating under Argentina's decentralized banking regime of the 1860s, before the national government moved to consolidate currency authority. Provincial notes like this circulated alongside — and often at a discount to — notes from Buenos Aires institutions, with exchange rates fluctuating by locality and sometimes by the reputation of individual bank officers.

The PS prefix in the Pick catalog places this firmly in the specialized South American provincial and state bank series. Documentation on the Banco Comercial de Santa Fé is sparse enough that surviving examples carry genuine research value beyond their numismatic interest.
