Reverse description A stylised pre-Columbian stone sculpture of a wrestler figure, known as El Luchador, is depicted in high relief at centre within a square cartouche, reflecting the Mesoamerican artistic tradition associated with Olmec culture. The mint mark Mo and the date of issue appear within the cartouche alongside the motif title EL LUCHADOR. The denomination $5 is inscribed in the field below the cartouche, outside the border. The design draws from the famous basalt figure housed in the Museo Nacional de Antropología in Mexico City.
