Obverse description The obverse features the Cuban national coat of arms at centre, depicting a shield quartered with a royal palm, a rising sun over a seascape, and the Cuban key symbol, surmounted by a Phrygian cap on a fasces and flanked by two curved laurel branches tied at the base. The legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery. The denomination 5 PESOS is inscribed along the lower field, while the weight designation 12 G. appears to the lower left and the fineness AG 0.999 to the lower right, both positioned vertically along the inner rim.
