正面描述 The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield divided into three sections bearing a royal palm, a rising sun over mountains and sea, and the blue-and-white striped field of the national flag, surmounted by a Phrygian cap on a pole and flanked by laurel and oak branches tied at the base. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin characters. The denomination 5 PESOS is inscribed along the lower rim, with the weight 12 G. at the lower left and the silver fineness designation AG 0.999 at the lower right.

附加信息

Cuba's early 1980s wildlife silver series was part of a broader hard-currency strategy — Havana minted collector coins almost exclusively for export sale, targeting the Western numismatic market to generate foreign exchange the embargo otherwise choked off. The Cuban crocodile (Crocodylus rhombifer), endemic to the Zapata Swamp and one of the most critically endangered crocodilians on earth, was a deliberate choice: an animal found nowhere else, for a coin sold to people who would never visit.

KM#74 exists in two catalogued varieties under the JMA references, distinguishable by subtle die differences rather than finish type.
