Obverse description The aluminium-bronze centre features the Mexican national arms: an eagle displayed in left profile, perched atop a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky islet, grasping a serpent in its beak and talons. The device is rendered in bold relief against a plain field. The surrounding stainless steel ring bears the legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS along the upper arc in raised Latin lettering. The lower portion of the ring is decorated with an ornamental laurel and olive branch motif in low relief.
