Obverse description The national arms of Bolivia occupy the central field, depicting the oval shield bearing Cerro Rico and Cerro Menor above a llama, a palm tree, and a chapel, all surmounted by a radiant sun. A wreath of laurel and olive branches frames the shield, with a condor displayed above. Ten five-pointed stars arranged in an arc below the arms symbolise the ten departments existing prior to the War of the Pacific. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE BOLIVIA runs along the upper periphery within a beaded border.
